What is atrial fibrillation?
Atrial fibrillation is a condition where the heart beats irregularly and often too fast. Its important to detect atrial fibrillation, as it can increase your risk of stroke by five times. It is the most common heart rhythm disorder. If you are aged 40 of above, the risk of developing atrial fibrillation at some point is 1 in 4. The older you get, the higher the risk. Atrial fibrillation can appear and disappear suddenly and often without any symptoms. This makes it even more important to check your heart rhythm regularly. With these regular heart rhythm checks, atrial fibrillation can be detected and treated early on.
What are the symptoms of atrial fibrillation?
Atrial fibrillation (AFib) symptoms include irregular or rapid heartbeat, fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, chest discomfort, and weakness. Some people have no symptoms, while others may feel heart palpitations or lightheadedness.
How to take a good measurement with FibriCheck?
Open the app, enter your pin code and tap 'start measurement'. Gently place your finger on the correct camera of your smartphone. Make sure you do not cover the flash as it may get warm. The app will detect and measure your heart rate and heart rhythm for 1 minute. Remain seated and relaxed during the measurement. After the measurement, you will be asked two questions about your symptoms and what you were doing before the measurement. Once you've filled these out, you'll receive your measurement result.
Is FibriCheck reimbursed by my insurance provider?
FibriCheck is covered by many commercial insurance providers in the U.S., as well as Medicare, thanks to its proven ability to assist doctors in making informed clinical decisions. How many measurements should I take per day?
You should follow the instructions of your doctor for the use of FibriCheck. Usually, it is recommended to measure your heart rhythm twice per day and whenever you're experiencing symptoms.
What should I do once I get my measurement result?
Your measurements are automatically shared with your healthcare provider. In case follow-up is necessary, you will be contacted by your healthcare provider, so no further action is required from your side.
