FibriCheck has recently surpassed 20 million heart rhythm measurements — a major milestone that reflects the growing global trust in our technology. Every measurement might make a difference, that is something CEO Lars Grieten can confirm as FibriCheck saved his father’s life when the app was still in its early stages.
In 2013, Lars’ father suffered his first stroke when he was barely 51 years old. He felt perfectly healthy at the time. Two years later fate struck again. In both cases, specialists at the hospital were unable to determine the cause of the problem. Lars was determined to overcome the limitations of hospital equipment through a software only solution. In cooperation with cardiologists from a Belgian hospital (Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg Genk), a prototype of the digital application - later called FibriCheck - was finished at that time.
When Lars’ dad felt unwell again two weeks after his second stroke, they monitored his heart rhythm with FibriCheck. The results were of enormous value. Unknowingly, his dad was suffering from atrial fibrillation, one of the most common cardiac arrhythmias. He immediately started an adapted treatment. Together with his cardiologist, they still closely follow up on his dad’s heart rhythm through the FibriCheck app.
That’s the power of data. FibriCheck saved Lars’ father’s life.

That’s why this milestone is more than just a number. We’re deeply grateful to our users and partners for their continued support throughout our journey. As we move forward, we remain committed to shaping the future of heart health through continuous innovation and further enhancements to our clinically validated algorithm and digital solutions.
